At Linde Larsen Flightcases, we are constantly searching for new ways to make our company more environmentally friendly. Among other things, we are recycling foam offcuts from our production and ensuring all of our products have a long lifetime.

As we have implemented circular practices in our manufacturing processes, we have also looked for ways to introduce more green product lines in our standard case assortment. One of these is the EKO series - keep reading to learn about our first fully recycled case!

A Durable Case Made of Recycled Plastics

The EKO series is a sustainable product line from the Italian case manufacturer Panaro. As one of the first on the market, the EKO cases are made of 100% recycled plastics. This initiative is a part of Panaro’s commitment to minimize their environmental impact - an ambition that we share.

The cases are lightweight and resistant to impact, dust and water. They come in a design that is not only functional as a protective case but also sleek looking so it can be used for presentation purposes.

Panaro’s Plan for the Planet

Acknowledging that working with plastic means more commitment, Panaro has strived to make their products more sustainable since the company was founded in 1962. The EKO series is one of the initiatives Panaro introduced to minimize their environmental impact, and their ambition is implemented in every step of their manufacturing process:

  • Investing in machinery. Panaro has invested more than €1.5 million in hybrid and electric machinery to optimize their energy consumption and decrease their emissions.

  • Energy from renewable sources: To power their hybrid and electric machine park, Panaro gets 30% of their energy consumption from solar panels.

  • Reuse of waste. Waste is unavoidable in manufacturing - it’s how you deal with the waste that’s within your control. Panaro has implemented a circular system ensuring all plastic waste goes back into the production line to be reused for new products.

  • Carbon offsetting: Some level of CO2 emission cannot be avoided. Panaro acknowledges this and to compensate for their environmental impact, they spend a percentage of their turnover on the Panaro Forest initiative that plants 500 trees a year.

Fact Box: How To Recycle Plastic

Recycling is an important process for plastic manufacturing companies to make their material consumption more responsible.

The circular process of transforming plastic waste to new products involves a series of steps:

 1. Collection: Plastic waste is collected from various sources, including homes, companies, and recycling centers.

 2. Transportation: The plastic waste is transported to a recycling facility.

 3. Sorting: At the recycling facility, the waste is sorted into different types of plastic.

 4. Cleaning: The sorted plastic waste is cleaned to remove any unwanted materials such as adhesives to ensure a pure, recyclable material.

 5. Shredding: The plastic waste is shredded into flakes to make uniform pieces.

 6. Reprocessing: The flakes are turned into a manufacturing material, often pellets

 7. New product: The plastic pellets can now be used to manufacture new products
