FAQ
For Flightcases, Cases & Case Interiors
We produce interiors starting from a single unit up to several thousand. No job is too small or too large.
The price for an interior depends on the case or case the foam will be fitted into, as well as the size and complexity. The price also depends on how many you need.
You can certainly use pluck foam, and in many cases, it can be a good solution. Pluck foam is made of PUR foam and is a soft foam type that offers excellent protection even under extreme conditions. The downside is that pluck foam tends to shed and can often only be used a few times since it tends to come apart.
If you donāt want to spend money on a custom interior, Multilayer Foam can be a good solution. Multilayer Foam is a PE foam that can easily be adapted to your equipment without shedding or falling apart. You can get Multilayer Foam in sheets or as an accessory for selected Peli Cases.
For most Peli Cases, Peli Air Cases, and Storm Cases, adjustable divider sets and the TrekPak Divider System are available as an option or accessory. See more under accessories.
We create foam inserts for all cases and cases, even those we havenāt supplied ourselves. Feel free to contact us for a quote.
To give you a quote for a foam insert, we need to know which case you want, how many you need, and what equipment needs to fit inside. If you already have a drawing for a foam insert, send it to us and we can quickly provide a price.
If you donāt have a drawing and would like us to design it for you, please send us a picture of your equipment. Place your items on a table in the configuration youād like, and take a photo. Remember you can optimize space in the case by arranging items in multiple layers.
If youāre unsure what to do or would like our advice, call or email us and weāll be happy to assist. Remember, getting a quote costs nothing.
If you want an interior for a Peli Case, Storm Case, or Extreme Case, be aware that the case is slightly tapered. The listed interior dimensions given for all our products are the largest surface measurements of the case. Therefore, a case may have slightly different dimensions at the top and bottom. Always maintain a 20 mm distance from the case edge for cases with a height up to 200 mm, and if taller, maintain a 30 mm distance.
We also recommend leaving at least a 10 mm gap between each item. The taller the case and the deeper the cut, the larger the gap should be. For example, if the case is 100 mm tall, 10 mm will suffice. If the case is 200 mm tall, we recommend 20 mm between each item.
To prepare a quote, we prefer a PDF drawing so our sales department can quickly provide pricing.
When we start the project, we prefer either a SolidWorks file or a DXF file.
We recommend using Cross-link PE foam for case interiors, ideally with a density between 29 kg/m3 and 45 kg/m3. Plastazote LD29 is the industry standard for professional foam interiors. Itās a professional-grade foam that provides excellent protection for equipment even in extreme conditions. Additionally, it does not shed and is resistant to both oil and temperature.
There are other cheaper PE foam types that can be used, but you wonāt get the same quality. Alveobloc and XPE (chemical foam) are examples.
If your equipment is very light or fragile or if price is a key factor, you can also use PUR foam. PUR foam is significantly cheaper. Weāre happy to provide guidance if you have any questions.
We document everything we produce, so we can always recreate something we made previously. If you donāt know the drawing number, call or email us and weāll find it.
Depending on the quantity and complexity, we use different techniques such as milling, knife cutting, waterjet cutting, and punching.
We always choose the most efficient production method and the one that provides the best professional result in relation to cost.
We always strive to offer a fair price. When it comes to case interiors, foam inserts, and packaging foam, we consider ourselves experts in these areas and very competitive. If the quantity is large, the choice of foam quality can significantly impact the total cost.
Therefore, always ask about which materials are being used and about any possible alternatives, so you have the best basis for getting the right solution at the right price.
