Splitting Foam Sheets

At Linde Larsen Flightcases, we have an extensive machine park with waterjets, CNC mills, shredders, and much more that we use in our production of custom foam solutions. One of these machines is the foam splitter. Foam splitting is a process to decrease the thickness of a foam sheet. It is done using a splitting machine that pulls in the foam sheet and cuts off a layer using a horizontal blade. This blade can be adjusted to different heights, so the foam sheets can be cut the exact size needed.

What do we use foam splitting for?

EWhen we receive foam sheets from our suppliers, they come in a standard thickness and with a protective ā€˜skin’ layer. This layer has to be removed before the foam can be processed and the standard thickness is rarely the thickness needed for the foam solution.

This is where the foam splitter comes in handy. Since the horizontal blade can be adjusted to cut different thicknesses, the skin layer can be cut off, and by adjusting the blade, the machine will ā€˜split’ the sheet into the desired thickness.
